Lemko Association Kermesh Saturday, August 9th

The Lemko Association has a full day of festivities planned for Saturday, August 9th, at our headquarters (184 Old County Road, Higganum, Connecticut.) All are invited.

At 9:00am the bi-annual meeting of the Lemko Association will be held. We hope that as many members as possible will be able to attend.

At 11:00am there will be a Moleben to the Mother of God and Panachida (prayers for the dead) in memory of the victims of the Thalerhof concentration camp, 1914-1917, and all those who lost their lives in connection with WWI and WWII. Our Thalerhof Memorial Chapel will be dedicated.

Immediately after the dedication, starting around 12:30pm, there will be a kermesh (picnic). Don’t miss “DJ Bortne”, Stefan Dutkanicz from Bortne, who will be playing Lemko music. Pirohy, kolbasy, hamburgers, hot dogs, and dessert will be available for a modest donation. You are also welcome to bring a picnic basket to share.

Please RSVP for the picnic by August 1st so that we can have enough food! Send email or call Paul at 860-345-7997.

We are looking forward to seeing you there! And please pass this invitation along to your Lemko and Rusyn friends who are not members.

GETTING THERE: Higganum is a section of the town of Haddam, just south of the city of Middletown, in the very center of Connecticut. Please enter Old County Road via the intersection of Killingworth Road (Route 81) and Beaver Meadow Road. Although there is an Old County Road sign on Route 81, that section of Old County Road is impassible. If using a GPS, set it for the intersection of Killingworth Road and Beaver Mountain Road, then continue 0.8 miles to 184 Old County Road.
